If you're reading this I'm on retreat!

Don’t panic. I’m in safe hands and have been assured that I won’t be harmed.

Harmed? Hell, I might not even change! I might discover that what I’m doing now is just fine, no tweaks necessary. Or I might melt down completely at the sheer bullshit of my life.

Is this the reason I’m going on retreat? To learn more about myself while resting and being stimulated at the same time? Yes, I think so.

I write about flow, because I know flow matters. On retreat, or even holidays, I experience flow more often than in daily life. Flow is my drug of choice. I need my fix …

Why else go on retreat?

I work from home, which is simultaneously a blessing and a curse. I balance it well. But the balance requires effort. I’m looking forward to using that effort to create, learn and rest, instead of cooking, tidying and organising. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with my writing, to exploring the topics and themes and styles that spark my interest. I’m looking forward to a new place and new people and new ideas, and support for my creative practice.

Establishing a business that shares my creative understanding with others can be bittersweet. I empower other people’s insight – and often learn from these myself – then can’t arrange the time to explore these in my own work.

So, I am re-treating myself. To really tear the poor ol word apart, I am granting myself treats again and again, while at the same time hibernating from the thrum of my day-to-day life.

This is a time for rediscovering flow. It reminds me that I’m human, that I’m a part of this planet, that I’m enough. I’m reconnecting with my story and growing it at the same time.

May your words pour onto the page,
